India’s Shahu Int’l Film Festival awards Iran’s ‘Forouzan’

Iranian short ‘Forouzan’ grabs award at the 2019 Shahu Int’l Film Festival in India.

Iranian short ‘Forouzan’ has grabbed an award at the 2019 Shahu International Film Festival (SISFF) in India.

Directed by Mirabbas Khosravinejad, ‘Forouzan’ won the Special Jury Award at the second edition of the SISFF in India.

The Iranian film tells the story of a young woman whose husband has recently passed away.

She lives with her two young children in a village, and protects a herd of sheep against the attack of thieves at night.

‘Forouzan’ has so far gone on screen at a number of global film events, including the March 2018 edition of the Pickurflick Indie Film Festival in India, the 8th Downtown Tyler Film Festival in the US, the 2018 High Peak Independent Film Festival in the UK, the 2018 Queen City Cinephiles in the US, the 3rd Inca Imperial International Film Festival in Peru, the 2018 Corto e Fieno Rural Film Festival in Italy, the 21st FRESCO International Film Festival in Armenia, the 5th Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival in the US, the 21st Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, the 3rd Defy Film Festival in the US, the 1st Melbourne City Independent Film Awards in Australia, and the 5th Gollut Film Festival in Spain.

The film has received Best Short Film Award at the 1st Astoria Film Festival, an honorable mention at the Independent Shorts Awards in the US, the jury prize at the 2019 International Film Festival of Sriganganagar in India, special jury award for Best Cinematography at the 15th International Charity Film Festival “Radiant Angel” in Russia, and Mention for Best Director at the 1st Global India International Film Festival in India.

Directed by Fatemeh Mohammadi, Iranian short ‘Oblivion’ also won the Second Best Film Award at the 2nd edition of the Indian event.

The 2019 SISFF took place in the Indian city of Pune on April 5-7.
